Premier League Darts: Limping Jonny Clayton wins Night Six against Luke Humphries amid whistling in Nottingham | Darts News

Jonny Clayton became the first player in the Premier League 2026 to pick up a second nightly win with a 6-1 hammering of Luke Humphries on Night Six in Nottingham.

It adds to Clayton’s win on Night Three in Glasgow and means he has won two of three finals he has been involved with so far, losing to Luke Littler last time out in Cardiff on Night Five.

Remarkably, Clayton picked up the win while limping throughout the night due to gout but the issue did not affect his darts as he beat Humphries, Stephen Bunting, and Michael van Gerwen to clinch the win.

The victory sees Clayton pull away from the chasing pack at the top of the table on 19 points, moving him eight points clear of Littler in second place on 11.

Despite the joy for Clayton, it was a night marred by whistling issues at the Motorpoint Arena. The first incident occurred in Littler’s quarter-final against Gerwyn Price which saw the world No 1 give a big celebration to the crowd in response.

Humphries also suffered with his own whistling issues as he then battled past Littler in the semi-finals, distracting him on a match dart before he eventually clinched the match and cupped his ears in that direction of the crowd.

“I wasn’t expecting much tonight. I suffer from gout, in my ankles, and tonight was a bit difficult with the way I walked,” Clayton told Sky Sports.

“My arm was okay, by the looks of it and that’s all that counts.

“I was practising just to keep on it, as every time I sat down it stiffened up. It’s the most I’ve ever practised. I am dreading taking my shoe off.”

Clayton was in truly imperious form in the final as he stunned the world No 2; a 67 per cent success rate on the doubles compared to Humphries’ 13 per cent showing a stark difference in how their darts were landing.

After Clayton raced into a 2-0 lead, Humphries had his one bright moment as he took out a silky 121 checkout. However, that would be his only leg of the match.

From there, Clayton found his second break of throw with a top-drawer 146 checkout to move 4-1 ahead, breaking once again in the seventh leg with Humphries struggling on the doubles to seal the 6-1 victory on D16.

Clayton romps past Bunting and MVG

Clayton booked his spot in a third Premier League final in six nights with a 6-3 win over Stephen Bunting.

It was a classy contest in which both players averaged around a ton and the Welshman came up with the key moment in the eighth leg as Bunting messed around on the doubles, allowing Clayton to break his throw before holding on tops.

Clayton kept his 100 per cent record in Premier League quarter-finals intact with a 6-3 victory over Michael van Gerwen, a loss that leaves the Dutchman pointless since Night Two.

The ‘Ferret’ was 2-0 down but managed to battle back and two breaks of throw, three legs on the spin, plus some strong doubling got him on top to eventually take the win on D4.

“When you have got everybody singing or chanting or booing or whatever it is, if everybody is the same and that whistle comes across, because it’s a totally different noise, it seems to echo more. It is as if he is stood right next door to you.”

Humphries gets first win over Littler in close to a year

Humphries made it into his first Premier League final of 2026 with a thrilling win over Littler, his first over his rival in nearly a year.

It was a strong showing from ‘Cool Hand’ who reached a near 108 average in patches as he broke Littler’s throw then took out a 130 checkout to move 5-2 in front.

Litter was not done, and hit back to bring the score to 5-4. From there, tensions rose. With a shot at D11 to win the match, Humphries missed and was clearly unhappy at whistlers in the crowd in the second incident of its kind of the night.

After missing two more match darts at tops, Littler took the clash all the way, but the world No 2 stayed strong on his throw and took out a sublime 128 checkout to win, making sure to celebrate in the direction of those who had whistled during that earlier D11 attempt.

Humphries started his night by claiming a long-awaited win against Gian van Veen with a 6-4 victory to leave the Dutch No 1 still waiting for a nightly win.

It was a tight contest between the pair, a break of throw in the seventh leg from Humphries proving the difference.

Elsewhere, Littler started his night by going toe-to-toe with Price as he secured a nail-biting 6-5 deciding leg victory, a staggering 108 averaging taking ‘The Nuke’ through to the semis.

It was a truly epic contest, Price setting it alight with a 151 then 152 checkout to level things at 2-2.

It then looked like the Welshman could be on a roll as he broke the throw to move 4-3 ahead but he let Littler off just one leg later, busting himself and allowing Littler to level things at 4-4. Indeed, that was when Littler let apparent whistlers in the crowd know with a big celebration.

Once the match was in the crunch leg, the 19-year-old showed why he is world No 1 with back-to-back maximums on the way to taking tops to send the ‘Iceman’ on his way.

Elsewhere, Bunting made it six successive quarter-final defeats for Josh Rock in his debut year in the Premier League, the Northern Irishman suffering a 6-1 defeat as his wait continues to get points on the board.
