Shivam Dube, who has won two ICC Men’s T20 World Cup titles with the Indian men’s cricket team, was ignored by a former India pacer in his all-time Chennai Super Kings (CSK) XI. The 32-year-old cricketer from Mumbai has played 55 matches for CSK since joining them in the IPL 2022 mega auction and has amassed a total of 1460 runs. Dube is ninth on the list of batters with the most runs for the five-time champions in the world’s richest franchise cricket league, but despite that, Mohit Sharma didn’t include him in his all-time CSK XI during the Cricbuzz show.
While Mohit skipped Dube along with Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana, who impressed with his performances in IPL 2023 and 2024, he included the likes of Michael Hussey, Faf du Plessis and Albie Morkel.
Hussey and Morkel played a big role in CSK’s success in the initial years of the IPL, whereas Faf was a key player for CSK in their IPL 2021 title win.
“My first player is (Michael) Hussey. He has played for CSK for a long time and has scored a lot of runs. With Hussey is Ruturaj Gaikwad. It’s fun to watch how he bats. After Ruturaj Gaikwad, there is an experienced player, Faf du Plessis. He has scored a lot of runs for CSK as well. You can’t take him out of the all-time CSK 11,” Mohit said.
Among Indian players, Mohit included Ruturaj Gaikwad as opener, followed by Suresh Raina at 4, Ambati Rayudu 5, MS Dhoni 6, Ravindra Jadeja 7 and Ravichandran Ashwin 8.
“After him (Faf) is Mr Consistent – Suresh Raina. No. 4. He has done so much in IPL cricket that he has been named Mr IPL. According to me, there is one more player who has done a lot for CSK – Ambati Rayudu. Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni) will lead this team. After him is Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja). You can’t miss Jaddu‘s name,” Mohit stated.
Out-of-favour Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar, who was signed by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 mega auction, is the lone Indian pacer in Mohit’s all-time CSK XI.
Mohit Sharma’s all-time CSK XI: Michael Hussey, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Dwayne Bravo, Albie Morkel, Deepak Chahar
Sanju to play for CSK in IPL 2026
Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson will play for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026. The 31-year-old cricketer from Kerala, who won the Player of the Tournament award in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, joined CSK in a trade deal from the Rajasthan Royals last month. In all likelihood he will play as an opener for the five-time champions in the IPL this year, and his form with the bat will play a big role for the Men in Yellow.
CSK’s squad for IPL 2026: Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), MS Dhoni (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, Urvil Patel (WK), Noor Ahmad, Nathan Ellis, Shreyas Gopal, Khaleel Ahmed, Ramakrishna Ghosh, Mukesh Choudhary, Jamie Overton, Gurjapneet Singh, Anshul Kamboj, Akeal Hosein, Prashant Veer, Kartik Sharma, Matthew Short, Aman Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Matt Henry, Rahul Chahar, Zak Foulkes
