Haas will compete in this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix with a special livery commemorating one of the country’s most famous cultural exports.
Meanwhile championship leaders Mercedes have also produced a variation for their livery this weekend featuring an image of a wolf.
Godzilla will appear on the sides of the Haas VF-26s which Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon will race at Suzuka this weekend. The team presented the design in Tokyo today at an event featuring the pair and team principal Ayao Komatsu.
The American-owned team entered a technical partnership with Toyota in 2024 and officially rebranded as ‘TGR Haas F1’ this year. It used a special ‘sakura’ themed livery at last year’s Japanese Grand Prix.
Bearman scored a single point in at Suzuka 12 months ago. He returns to the track fifth in the championship – ahead of world champion Lando Norris – having scored in all three races so far, including both parts of the sprint event in China. That puts Haas fourth in the championship at this early stage, ahead of Red Bull, even with Ocon yet to score.
Mercedes’ tweak to their livery for this weekend’s race adds wolf graphics to the front wing of their W17s. This appears to be part of a new merchandise product line rather than a nod to team principal Toto Wolff. The championship leaders arrive at the third round of the season unbeaten so far.
Three teams have revealed new liveries for the third round of the season. Racing Bulls have also showed off a new look for this weekend.
