Brown has yet to win a senior cap for Australia but is a regular in the A-team set-up and was recently called into the Test squad to face India. She has played previously in England for Southern Vipers, in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy (which the counties now compete for in the One-Day Cup), and in the Hundred for Southern Brave.
“I’m really looking forward to joining Surrey this summer,” Brown said. “I’ve had a great winter in Australia, and I’m excited to keep the momentum going with a great side in London. Surrey finished last season in an incredibly strong position. Their setup is clearly one of the best in the country, and I can’t wait to contribute and learn from it.”
Emma Calvert, Surrey’s director of women’s cricket, said: “Maitlan will be a fantastic addition to the squad, both on and off the field. Her depth of experience across franchise and domestic cricket gives the team a strong knowledge base to draw from.
“Her composure with the ball will add real depth to our bowling attack and support our ambitions to build on last year’s success. We’re really looking forward to having her at the Kia Oval.”
Surrey reached the semi-finals of the 2025 Metro Bank Cup, as well as winning the inaugural women’s T20 Blast and finishing as runners-up in the T20 County Cup.
