Bengaluru FC forward Sunil Chhetri became the oldest player to score in the Indian Super League after finding the back of the net during his side’s ISL 2025-26 season opener against Sporting Club Delhi at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday.
After coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute, Chhetri bagged his first goal of the season in added time with a long-range effort to hand his side a 2-0 win.
At 41 years and 196 days, he broke the record held by French legend Robert Pires, who set it when he scored for FC Goa during the 2014-15 season, aged 41 years and 15 days.
